First off I think it’s probably important to say how much I enjoy Zaha Hadid’s architecture, there’s an organic playfulness that’s very smooth and comforting (as opposed to perhaps Frank Gehry who’s designs I might say are sometimes sharp and chaotic) that has been missing from the built environment – obvious by ways of considering the general requirements that cities, blocks etc are typically load out in some sort of a grid, which is not super conducive to swoopy forms. The initial renderings that have been popping up online of the coming 1000 Museum project in Miami have been kind of luke warm, a staggering tower with effectively some curvilinear facade elements. Hoping for a little more, and looking at the prices these guys are thinking, praying for a slightly more inspired floor plan with some character… yikes, another fancy cookie-cutter box layout. And one wonders why I love the layouts by Rosario Candela and JER Carpenter.
